We hope all our members had an enjoyable and peaceful Christmas. We would like to invite and encourage all members to take an active role in the club this year, whether it is umpiring, helping out with underage/senior training, or playing any part in the club no matter how small. Please feel free to volunteer your services to any club member and become part of it.
The annual tag sevens competition ran on New Year’s Eve with huge success. Over 45 Men and woman took part in the event which seen Joe McBride and Ciara Hegarty’s team run out eventual winners over Maurice Harkins fiercely competitive side in the final. We also would like to give a special thanks to Seamus Hegarty on organising the event and anyone who helped out on the day.
The club would like to congratulate senior player Malachy McDermott who made his inter county debut for Donegal against Derry in the Dr McKenna Cup last Sunday in Owenbeg.
Congratulations to the senior ladies who finished their season on a high by winning the Donegal 13 aside league. The girls defeated St Eunans in a 3-9 to 2-9 score line on Sunday in the Carrick Feild. Scores on the day came from Kathy McLaughlin (1-4), Marie Kelly and Nicole McDermott both (1-1), Aisleen McGuiness, Sinead McGuiness and Shannon McDonald all (0-1).
There was no jackpot winner this week. The winning numbers were 3, 5, 9, 19. The €50 runner-up prize goes to John Diver. Next week’s jackpot will be €7,000. Thank you for your continued support. We would like to appeal for more Lotto sellers as it is out main source of income.
The club dinner dance will take place in the Redcastle Hotel on Saturday 24th January. Adult tickets are €25 and U16 tickets are €12.50. Tickets are available from any committee member so why not come along and enjoy the post festive dinner dance, it promises to be a great night.
The underage training with resume from its winter break next Saturday the 10th of January.Club membership is now open for anyone who wishes to sign up: Juveniles €5, student €10, adult €20, family (up to 18 years) €30 and family with lotto for a year €100. County Board levies must be paid before end of January so important that all memberships are paid before that time.
Club membership is now due for 2015. Fees for the year: Adult Membership €25, Students (3rd level in full time education with student ID card) €15 and Under-age €3. Anyone playing football for the club must have their membership paid up to be covered by insurance in case of injury. Club members will have also have first preference on Donegal match tickets for the coming season. Fees must be paid in full by March 31st. Payable to John Friel, Edward McLaughlin, Nichola Donaghey or any committee members.
MATCH “N” WIN: Thursday January 1st 2015. The jackpotwas not won the numbers drawn were 2, 7, 8 & 19. The €15 winners were Tracy Kearney, Urris, Seamus Grant, Cloughfin, Sadie Mc Laughlin, Tullagh, Angela Ivers, Clonmany and Mary Duffy, Urris. Jackpot next week is €1,380.
The annual presentation / dinner dance takes place on Friday night in the Strand Hotel. Tickets from John Friel, committee members and all players. Tickets €20. Our senior men will be presented with their Junior A winning medals and various other awards will be presented on the night.
Training resumes for both U6 & U8 this Saturday and every Saturday at 11am in the Youth Club Clonmany.
The club wish to thank all who came along to the Great Duck Race in Binion on St. Stephen’s day. A massive thanks to Michael Mc Donald of MacTams who sponsored the first prize. Overall. Big thanks to Adrian Doherty, Alan Friel and Michael Doherty our main organisers of this event. Also, to all who helped in any way on the day and prior to race day especially Centra Clonmany, Clonmany PO and all who sold ducks.
The club has a number of books left for sale at €10, a comprehensive review of the club year and all the GAA action in the county for 2014.

The bingo and lotto have resumed and last weeks lotto numbers were 2-5-16-20 with Carl Houston the only match 3 winner. Next weeks Jackpot is €2000.
Senior team manager Aaron McDaid is hoping to commence training this week in preparation for the coming season. We have suffered seriously from immigration over the past four to five years and unfortunately it looks that it is going to continue this year as well and we may be down another two to three players.
Under our Scor officer Sean Killen, the club are looking for members to get involved in the Scor Sinsear this year. With a spread of various categories ie Ceili and set dancing, solo and group singing, Instrumental music, Recitation, Quiz and Novelty acts, there is opportunity for all. If interested just give Sean a call and he will give you whatever info you need.
The club have some copies of the Donegal year book still available as well as copies of Fr Sean Gallaghers book of facts. If you require one just contact any club officer.The Club extends sympathy to the McGill family Maghereagh on the death of Seamus. May he rest in peace.
The club constitution is now available to view on the website. The agm will be held on Monday 26th January at 8 pm in the clubhouse. Anyone with any amendments must have them in writing to the secretary 14 days prior to the meeting. The only amendment changes dealt with on the night will be the ones that have been received in writing.The club would like to offer its sincere condolences to the Geoghegan family following the recent death of Donal Geoghegan. Congratulations to Willie Gillespie on making his senior Donegal debut on Sunday in the Dr McKenna cup match against Derry at Owenbeg.

There was no winner of the weeekend lotto jackpot so next week’s jackpot is €2,600 the numbers drawn were 10, 24, 25 and 29. The lotto draw took place last Monday evening in the hall. The numbers drawn were 1,2,16 & 18. The jackpot of €9000 was not won. Two lucky dip winners receive €50. They were Martin Melly, Renny and Emma Doherty, Glenties.
Award winners at the recent dinner dance held in the Lakehouse hotel were as follows; club person of the year, Michael Duddy; appreciation awards; Felix Melly, Patrick Caulfield and Conal Melly.The county under age players were also rewarded with presentations for their achievements over the past 12 months.
The 1989 intermediate champions were also honoured on the night. Thanks to Mary Melly the manager of the Lake House and to all the staff who made this a night to remember.
Any player interested in playing for the senior team in the forthcoming season is asked to attend a meeting in the clubhouse on January 9th at 9.30pm.
The Club are circulating tickets to members to buy. These tickets cost €10. All monies will go towards the club with ticket stubs being returned to Croke Park for draw on 17th March 2015.
The SLOTTO draw on Saturday 20th December the numbers drawn 4, 2, 5, 6, 7, 1, 3. The jackpot was not won. The €80 consolation prize went to Damien McDyre, Coughlan Avenue, Frosses. Draw on 27th December the numbers drawn were 3, 7, 2, 6, 4, 5. No winner. The €80 consolation went to Terence Leahy, Glencoagh.
The ladies board are holding their agm next Wednesday 14th January at 8pm. in the clubrooms.
The ladies underage presentation evening will take place on Friday 16th January at 7pm in the Clubrooms.

The club held a very successful annual Dinner Dance in Arnolds Hotel in Dunfanaghy on Saturday night last. The special guests were Colm McFadden, Martin McElhinney and Christy Toye members of the Donegal Ulster winning team. And the under 16 team who won the County A title and reached the Ulster semi-final as was the members of the minor team.
The master of cermonies for the night was Club chairman Liam McElhinney and the following Club Awards were also presented. Odhran McGee received the most improved player from William Sheridan; the reserve player of the Year Award was presented jointly to Paul Creamer and Shaun Doak by club sponsor Denis Harley from Molly’s Bar. The young player of the Year was presented to Oisin Langan by club sponsor Seamus Sweeney and the joint senior players of the year was presented to Ciaran ‘Rock’ Gallagher and Andrew Kelly by club sponsor Mick McGinley. The clubperson of the year award was presented to Moses Alcorn by club president Brian McGinley. Presentations were also made to Colm McFadden, Christy Toye and Martin McElhinney for their achievements with Donegal and to Maria Carr who won an All Ireland medal with Termon ladies. A presentation was also made to Marie O’Reilly who won an Ulster School Girl All Star in 2014.
Well done to Martin McElhinney who captained Donegal in their opening Dr McKenna Cup match in against Derry.

There was no Jackpot winner in the St Michael’s Mini Lotto on Sunday night. The numbers drawn were 2,3,4,5,10,14. There were six match 5 winners and their names were drawn. The winner of the €100 was Cathy Doyle c/o Log Cabin Bar. This weeks jackpot will be €7450.

There will be a senior players meeting with management on Sunday 18th January at 3pm, in Aras Aoidh Ruaidh, to discuss plans for the upcoming season. All players who played any senior football in 2014 are asked to attend. Any other players with an interest in playing senior football this year are also welcome to attend.
There will be a meeting in Aras Aoidh Ruaidh on Friday 9th January at 7pm for everybody interested in under 16 football in 2015.
Indoor training resumes for underage teams on Friday 23rd January.
Aodh Ruadh members are out and about now selling tickets for the National GAA draw which takes place on Friday 27th February. The national draw offers a range of 15 super prizes including trips away with the 2015 All-Stars, a trip to New York, a travel voucher worth €1,500, shopping vouchers worth €1,000 and numerous luxury All-Ireland final packages.

The GAA National draw tickets are now on sale and can be purchased from any club member. Along with the prizes listed on the tickets the County Board have also included prizes to the value of €2500 while Gaeil Leitir Ceanainn have included five Club Donegal Cards for tickets sold within the club.
Michael Murphy Sports are now stocking a range of club merchandise including jerseys, training tops, hats & scarfs. The 2014 Donegal GAA Yearbook is now on sale. This glossy publication gives a comprehensive roundup of all GAA activities for club & county and includes a summary and pictures of Letterkenny Gaels season.
We also have a number of books on Donegal GAA Facts by Fr Sean O Gallchoir. The club has limited copies of each book available and can be purchased by contacting Jim at 086 2271435.

The minor board annual presentation night took place in the Downings Bay Hotel on Friday night. County stars Lorcan Connor and Shannon Mc Groddy were the special guests and they presented the boys and girls with their medals.

Well done to Cathal Mc Gettigan and Luke Barrett who both featured in the O’Byrne Cup at the weekend. Cathal started corner forward for DIT in their 1-12 to 0-14 victory over Wexford in the O’Byrne Cup.Luke came on as a sub for Maynooth in their 1-12 to 1-5 defeat to Dublin in Parnell Park. Club physio Conall McFadden is also physio for Maynooth. This week’s lotto numbers were 6-7-19-22. No jackpot winner.There were two match 3 winners.Enda McHugh and Colm McGettigan win €35 each. Next week’s Jackpot is €600.
The club held a very successful dinner dance last Saturday night in the Lagoon. The All-Ireland ladies champions were presented with their county league and championship double, county and All-Ireland Gaeltacht, Ulster championship and All-Ireland championship. Special guests on the night were former Derry star and RTE pundit Joe Brolly, Ladies GAA President Pat Quill and Minister of State for the Gaeltacht Joe McHugh TD.
