On Sundays, September 1st and 15th, St.Finbarr’s Gaelic Football Club in Perth added more silverware to their cabinet by completing the Western Australia Intermediate League and Championship double.
On both occasions the team was led out by their Captain, Ghaoth Dobhair native, Paul Ó Fearraigh. In his team he had the support of fellow club men, Ronan Ó Duibhír and John Mac Fhionnghaile, and Ballybofey man, James Lynch.
They clinched the league with a great all round performance, defeating Southern Districts on a scoreline of 1-12 to 0-04 on September 1st. Then they topped of a great year for the oldest GAA club in Perth by defeating Morley Gaels in the championship decider. The match was one of the toughest games of the year for St.Finbarr’s, which seen them overturned a 7 point deficit to win by 0-14 to 1-10.
Congratulation to the lads hopefully they will return to Irish shores someday to have similar success with their departed clubs.
