It was a case of so near and yet so far for the three Donegal clubs at the county at the All-Ireland Feile Na nGael (hurling) finals at the weekend.
Buncrana and Letterkenny Gaels competed in the hurling finals while Sean MacCumhaill’s flew the Donegal flag in the camogie competition.
Of the three the hard luck story of the weekend was that of Buncrana who after an impressive winning run to the final, they were pipped in the decider by Easkey from Sligo.
The Sligo champions had two points to spare at the finish as they ran out 1-10 to 3-2 winners.
On their way to the final Buncrana, overcame their hosts Killeedy, Drom/Broadford, Limerick, Westport and Four Roads, Roscommon.
Letterkenny Gaels, in Division Five, won two of their three group games before losing to Oran of Roscommon, in the quarter-final.
Sean MacCumhaills went one step better, they reached the last four in their division, Division Four, before losing to Na Piarsaigh from, Limerick.
