St Eunan’s chalked up a second win of the campaign with a two point victory over Cloughaneely in St Finian’s Park, Falcarragh on Saturday evening.
As the final margin suggests this was far from a stroll in the park for the Letterkenny side, who were given a right good run for their money by Cloughaneely.
Cloughaneely, powered by Jason McGee, in the middle of the field and with Shaun McGarvey in flying form up front, gave as good as they got for the bulk of this keenly contested tie.
They led by two points at half-time thanks to a late goal and point from McGarvey after Niall O’ Donnell had got the black and ambers off to a good start with an early goal.
Cloughaneely had played with the strong wind in the first half and had not taken full advantage of the elements.
Conor O’Donnell, Conor Gibbons and Caolan Ward knocked over early points on the resumption for the visitors to go back in front.
And while Jason McGee levelled the game shortly after Cloughaneely were hiit a blow when they lost McGarvey to injury.
St Eunan’s were soon back in front as Niall O’Donnell, Gibbons and Conor Parke all pointed to ease their side three ahead before McGee brought down the curtain on the scoring with a late pointed free.
