Former All-Star Yvonne McMonagle scored four goals as Glenfin retained the Donegal Comórtas Peile Na Gaeltachta Senior Championship with a final victory over Termon on Bank Holiday Monday.
Glenfin 4-9 . . . . . Termon 3-6
McMonagle scored 4-3 of the champions’ tally and her county colleague Karen Guthrie posted 0-6, as the Ladies from the Gaeltacht Lár put titles back-to-back. They will now represent Donegal at the All-Ireland finals in Ballyvourney, Cork, on the June Bank Holiday weekend.
However, the main talking points afterwards were the injuries picked up by the Termon sisters, Geraldine and Nicole McLaughlin.
Geraldine was stretchered off after suffering a back injury and Nicole suffered a knock which resulted in concussion and both were removed to Letterkenny University Hospital by ambulance.
They are both key players in the Donegal Ladies senior team and the injuries rule them both out of Donegal’s crunch Lidl Ladies National League Division Two final in Parnell Park in Dublin on Saturday.
Geraldine McLaughlin had scored 2-6 of Termon’s tally before she was forced out of the game in the middle of the second half. Lucy O’Flynn scored the other Termon goal.
