Naomh Padraig, Lifford
The Club's re-scheduled AGM took place on Sunday the 3rd of January in the Habentag Housing Complex, Lifford. The Executive Committee elected on the night is as follows:
President Charlie Tourish; Vice-President; Austin Daly; Chairman John McDermott; Vice-Chairman Shaun Mc Brearty; Secretary Danielle Devine; Assistant-Secretary Unfilled; Treasurer Dessie McDermott; Assistant-Treasurer Kevin Tourish; Registrar
Brian McKinney; PRO Paul Lynch; Irish Language and Culture Officer Unfilled; Children’s Welfare Officer Fidelma McDermott; Players Representative Míchael Ferry; Coaching Officer Paul Melaugh; County Board Delegate 1 Brian McKinney; County Board Delegate 2 Enda McDermott; Ladies County Board Delegate Unfilled
Health And Wellbeing Officer John Mahon Junior
In his address to the AGM, Club Chairman John McDermott outlined the state of the Club Finances over the past 4 years. As of November 2015, the Club is approximately €3,000 in profit. This is in stark contrast to the Club’s Finances four years ago when the Club was €26,000 in debt, all the while covering the annual cost of running the Club (in excess of €50,000). While this drastic financial improvement was warmly welcomed by those in attendance; the fact remains that a very small group of fundraisers - namely Clubs Treasurers Dessie McDermott and Kevin Tourish, and a handful of underage players who sell the Club Lotto throughout the parish – are responsible for this huge achievement.
Due to the large amount of debt that the Club had accumulated over the years, there is no doubt that Lifford has fallen behind other Clubs in terms of success on the field, coaching and playing facilities. Going forward, the new Committee has big plans for Naomh Padraig; in terms of sport, as a business and as a community organisation. On the sporting front, the Club intends to carry out a radical overhaul of our underage coaching structures. This overhaul was initiated last year with the introduction of an Under-6 team for the very first time in the Club’s history, and this overhaul will continue into 2016; nonetheless, the Club does require additional coaches going forward.
