The major discount grocery store, ALDI, will open its fifth Donegal outlet early next month.
Construction work is continuing on the latest addition to the retail landscape in Letterkenny with the new store set to open on Thursday, December 1st in time for the Christmas push.
The town’s existing store at Ramelton Road has reported one of its busiest years while the company also operate supermarket units in Dungloe and Buncrana.
A spokesman for ALDI confirmed yesterday that the premises on the Neil T. Blaney would open on December 1st and said further details would be made public next week.
The German owned concern operates between seventy and eighty stores throughout the country ha\ving opened its initial stores in the Republic back in 1999.
It’s not yet clear how many the new outlet will employ but it will represent another jobs boost for the locality following the recent opening of Smyths Toy Superstore and Sofa World both of which are located at the Letterkenny Retail Park.
It follows several years of closures as the recession bit deep, particularly on the Main Street area where a number of retail businesses went to the wall.
