The number of people signing on in Donegal has dropped by over 1,400 according to the latest live register figures.
Figures from the Central Statistics Office for September show that there were 21,608 people on the Live Register in the county at the end of month, down 6.4% on the August figure of 23,079.
The figure however is an increase of 1.3% on the same period last year.
All the social welfare offices in the county showed a decrease which is in line with the national figures.
In Letterkenny there were 6,321 people signing on in the town at the end of September, a decrease of 5% or 327 on the August figure. The Letterkenny figure was the biggest decrease in the county but was still 5.7% up compared to September last year.
Buncrana saw a drop of 307 in the number of people signing on, 3.3% fall to 4,737.
In Ballybofey the figure fell from 2,924 to 2,686, a fall of 238. Dungloe’s unemployment figure fell from 2,421 to 2,242 in September, a drop of 179.
The live register in Dunfanaghy dropped from 1,689 in August to 1,573, a fall of 116 while the number of people signing on at Killybegs decreased from 1,371 in August to 1,248 in September, a drop of 123.
The social welfare office in Ballyshannon saw the numbers signing on fall from 1,609 to 1,515, a decrease of 94 while Donegal Town saw the live register drop from 1,373 to 1,286, fall of 87.
