Fianna Fáil senator Brian Ó Domhnaill has been charged with drink driving and hit and run offences.
The 36-year-old, with an address at Killult, Falcarragh is charged with being in charge of a vehicle while exceeding the alcohol limit, and hit and run failing to report an occurrence, failing to give appropriate information and failing to remain at the scene. The charges relate to an incident at Tullygay, Letterkenny on September 2nd last year.
The senator was not in court when the case was called at Monday’s sitting of Letterkenny District Court. The brief hearing was conducted through Irish between Senator Ó Domhnaill’s solicitor John Cannon and Judge Paul Kelly.
Mr. Cannon requested the case be adjourned until January due to a High Court case the senator is taking over use of the Irish language. Judge Kelly adjourned the case until January 19th.
