One scenic area that won’t be blighted by election posters during the run up to the local and European elections is the county’s tidiest town.
Glenties, which has been national winner of the Tidy Towns many times, has banned posters,. The move has prompted local candidates to be more selective when choosing poster locations.
Ian Molloy a new candidate in the race, told the Donegal Democrat:, “With the reputation that Glenties has deservedly gained, I decided from the outset that I was going to keep my posters outside town boundaries.
“I’m delighted to see that the message has gotten out: we are poster free in the town.
“I would like to congratulate all the other candidates for doing the same. Most people know our faces well enough by now.”
