At the celebration of Julia O’Donnell’s life in Kincasslagh today, the main celebrant in bidding her goodbye made a special request - “Be sure and have a pair of gloves and socks for me at the Golden Gates and we can have an old song together”
Fr. Brian Logue , a cousin of the O’Donnell family and the same priest who officiated at Julia’s husband Francie’s funeral mass paid a warm and emotional tribute to this remarkable woman who was a friend to everyone she met,.
He also thanked Julia for the lasting inspiration she had left behind and also for her family who had continued in the same tradition.
“We came here not to weep - it is a sad time but we can truly celebrate a life knowing that both Francie and Julia are together once again.” he said
The funeral mass was very much an opportunity for the community of the Rosses to say their final farewells to a woman that they had all loved so much and also to a family that they all regards as their own.
