A man who suffered a severe heart attack has been airlifted from Letterkenny General Hospital to Galway Regional Hospital.
Paramedics requested assistance for the 65-year-old male patient, who is from Buncrana, this morning. He was taken by ambulance from Buncrana to Letterkenny General Hospital.
At 9.15am Malin Head Coast Guard Rescue tasked the Coast Guard Search and Rescue 118 helicopter from Sligo.
The helicopter’s arrival in Letterkenny was hampered by local fog, a Coast Guard spokesperson told the Democrat.
Despite this, the patient was successfully airlifted, arriving at Galway Regional at 11am, where he was transferred to the care of hospital staff.
“The crew made good time and we hope that the patient will do well now,” the Coast Guard spokesperson concluded.
