Cllr Barry O’Neill is calling for a 15kph speed limit to be introduced at Rossnowlagh beach.
He says that, when the issue was discussed at a meeting of the Donegal Electoral Area Committee last year, council officials agreed to erect signs to that effect on the beach.
Cllr. O’Neill commented: “It’s an ongoing issue, especially at this time of year. Whenever there’s the first sign of good weather, the boy racers appear on the beach. The tend to do it even despite the presence of families.
“The Irish Water Safety Assocation do a fabulous job there and the gardai do their best but the gardai cannot be there 24 hours a day.
“There was a promise made last year to erect signs showing a 15kph limit on the beach but the signs have never appeared.”
