Sinn Féin Councillor, Mick Quinn has welcomed a commitment from Donegal County Council’s Water and Environment Section to present a report on the provision of amenities on Donegal beaches.
Quinn said: “At a recent meeting of the Water and Environment Strategic Policy Committee I proposed that the Council should consider providing relatively inexpensive amenities such as Volleyball and Football facilities on some of our beaches. This could be done very easily on our Blue Flag beaches and would provide our children with activities which would make the beaches more attractive.”
Quinn continued: “We all know that we cannot rely on continuous sunshine during our Summer months and I believe that such healthy activities would make the beach more enjoyable for children at very little cost to the Council. Areas of the designated beaches could be sectioned off for the games areas so that they would not impact on other beach goers.”
