New Dungloe Bay Promenade lights turned on

The lighting of the newly constructed Dungloe Bay Pomenade has been hailed a great success and has been warmly welcomed in the Rosses capital.
The installation of the lights on the section of the walkway which has been developed so far was completed at the end of last month and the lights were turned on for the first time two weeks ago.
“The lights are fantastic and it looks really well and have been warmly welcomed by the locals,” said Kenneth Campbell, the chairman of the Dungloe Community Network, the organisation behind the development of the walk.
“The walk runs from the footbridge in at the bottom of the carpark to the houses on the Quay Road and it looks fabulous at night and greatly adds to that side of the town.
“The lights have only been switched on a little over a week and it is already proving very popular with locals and visitors,” he added.
This phase of the walk completed and now lit up is just the first phase of the development of the walkway. The plan which is the second phase of the development is to run it out along the Quay Road out to the bathing pond which was refurbished last year.
“We hope work on the second phase gets underway shortly. We have received a commitment from Donegal County Council to complete the walkway all the way out to the Pond,” Kenneth said.
The plan for the third phase of the walkway is to run it up along the Dungloe River and across Lower Main Street and on up the river bank to the Gweedore Road and link up with the River Walk.
