Ardara Poor Farmers were dishing out the goodies again last week at their annual presentation on Saturday night, in Teague’s Bar, in Ardara.
It was the association's 13th presentation with the Owen McConnell fund and the Ardara First Responders jointly sharing €29,500.
The €29,500 was made up of funds raised at the annual Farmer’s Auction run at the end of December and a raffle and barbeque run by the farmers on the night.
“It was a very good night and as always is the night of the year, in Ardara,” said Kathy Boyd, one of the organisers.
“The auction on December 29 raised €28,000 and €1,500 on the night and €1,500 from a raffle and a barbeque on the night.
“We always like to donate the money locally where possible and this year we had two worthy charities.
“In the past 13 years we have donated to a number different groups such as Pieta House, Cancer Care Northwest,Donegal Hospice, the Ardara Resource Centre and the Ardara Creche.
“This year’s fund brings the total raised in the 13 years to over €300,000.”
