Deaths in Donegal, Wednesday evening, May 2nd, 2018

The Donegal Democrat has been informed of the following deaths:

- Hughie Melly, Meenagowan, Lettermacaward

- John Bonner No 4 The Weavers, Ballybofey formerly of Falcarragh

- David Meehan, The Glebe, Roshine Road, Killybegs

- Tony O’ Callaghan The Hill, Killybegs 

- Owen McGowan, Derryloughan, Tullaghan, Co Leitrim

- Bridie Kelly, (nee Devlin) Drimbeigh, Mountcharles

- Catherine Doherty, Swilly Road, Buncrana and Dun Laoghaire, Dublin

- Jim McGeoghegan, Coventry, England, formerly, Isle of Doagh, Clonmany

Hughie Melly, Meenagowan, Lettermacaward

The death has taken place of Hughie Melly, Meenagowan, Lettermacaward.

His remains will be reposing in McGlynn’s Funeral Home today from 12 noon to 2pm with removal afterwards going to his late residence.

Rosary Wednesday at 10pm and Thursday at 9pm.

Funeral Mass on Friday in St Brigid’s Church, Lettermacaward at 12noon with interment afterward in the adjoining cemetery.

Family time only from 10pm to 10am and also private the morning of the funeral.

John Bonner No 4 The Weavers, Ballybofey formerly of Falcarragh 

The death has occurred at Letterkenny University Hospital of John Bonner No 4 The Weavers, Ballybofey formerly of Falcarragh.

Remains reposing at his late residence, Wednesday, May 2nd from 6pm until rosary at 10pm.

Funeral leaving his home on Friday morning, 4th May at 10:30am for requiem mass at 11am in the Church of Mary Immaculate, Stranorlar, with interment afterwards in Drumboe cemetery.

Donations in lieu of flowers, if so desired, to Amyloidosis c/o any family member.

The house is private at the request of the deceased, family and friends welcome.

David Meehan, The Glebe, Roshine Road, Killybegs

The death has occurred of David Meehan, The Glebe, Roshine Road, Killybegs. Remains reposing at his late residence. Removal from there on Friday morning at 10.30am to St.Mary’s Church, Killybegs for 11am funeral mass. Burial afterwards in the local cemetery. Family time from 10pm to 12noon. Family flowers only please donations in lieu if desired to the Fishermen’s Mission UK, c/o any family member.


Tony O’ Callaghan The Hill, Killybegs 

The death has taken place of Tony O’ Callaghan The Hill, Killybegs.

Remains reposing at his late residence. Removal on Thursday morning, 3rd May at 10:30am to St. Mary’s Church, Killybegs for 11 o’clock funeral Mass.

Burial afterwards in the local cemetery.

Family time from 11pm to 11am.

Family flowers only please donations in lieu if desired to Killybegs Community Hospital.

House Private on the morning of the funeral please.

Owen McGowan, Derryloughan, Tullaghan, County Leitrim

The death has occurred of Owen McGowan, Derryloughan, Tullaghan, County Leitrim at the North West Hospice, Sligo. Brother of Sheila Reynolds, Ballygawley and Nora Mc Goldrick, Ballymote.  Reposing at the home of his son Owenie and daughter-in-law Fiona, Derryloughan. 

Arriving at St. Aidan’s Church, Kinlough on Wednesday morning for 11am Funeral Mass. Burial afterwards in St. Aidan’s Cemetery, Kinlough. Family Flowers only. Donations if desired to North West Hospice,C/o Mc Gloin Undertakers. House Private to family and neighbours on Wednesday morning please.


Bridie Kelly, (née Devlin) Drimbeigh, Mountcharles

The death has taken place of Bridie Kelly, (née Devlin), Drimbeigh, Mountcharles. Remains will be reposing at her late residence. Removal from there on Thursday morning at 10.30am going to the Church of the Sacred Heart, Mountcharles for 11am funeral mass, with burial afterwards in the adjoining churchyard. Parking available at Kelly’s Toyota Garage.

Catherine Doherty, Swilly Road, Buncrana and Dun Laoghaire, Dublin

The death has occurred of Catherine Doherty, Dublin and formerly of Swilly Rd, Buncrana, and late of Dun Laoghaire Community College.

Funeral Mass in the Church of the Holy Spirit, Kimmage Manor, Dublin, at 12 noon on May 8th.  

Jim McGeoghegan, Coventry, England, formerly, Isle of Doagh, Clonmany 

The death has taken place of Jim McGeoghegan, Coventry, England, formerly, Isle of Doagh, Clonmany.

His remains will arrive at St Mary's Church, Clonmany on Thursday, 3rd May at approx. 12 noon, for prayers and to repose overnight.

Funeral Mass on Friday, 4th May at 11am, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
