It’s one of the biggest and most popular parades in the North West and the organisers of this year’s St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Letterkenny are promising another fun day for all the family.
With less than a month to go to the national holiday, Letterkenny Chamber President Gerard Grant and Chamber members were joined by the Town Mayor, Paschal Blake to formally launch this year’s parade.
Speaking at the launch Chamber President Gerard Grant said “The Letterkenny Parade is a great family event in Letterkenny. This year we are appealing to sporting clubs, dance groups, youth groups, clubs and societies to get involved, the more people we get involved the more colourful and lively the parade becomes. This year we are keen to celebrate international culture so if you are looking for a theme why not take on that as a theme.
“Letterkenny Chamber is the sole organiser of the parade and at this stage we want to acknowledge the financial contributions already pledged for this year from large and small businesses and ask other businesses out there to offer their support.
“It is a real voluntary effort by members of the Chamber and we are proud to play our part in this important day. But this year we really want to make it even more vibrant, colourful and lively and we want to remind people that an entry doesn’t have to be a full scale float, we love to see clubs and societies dressed up walking along the street, this can be every bit as effective. If you have thought about entering and want to know more please do let us know. ”
The parade starts at 3pm on Monday, March 17th March preceded by entertainment on the viewing platform at Market Square.
