If you’re a country singer or musician, or part of a country duo, make your way to The Bird’s Nest Bundoran to enter their fabulous new talent competition.
Top prizes on offer include: professional production of your own music video which will be shown on the Hot Country programme on Sky Showcase and uploaded to YouTube; a recording session with Brian Kerrigan in Harmony Studios resulting in your own professionally produced track; professional fee, and more.
Backing music for contestants during the competition will be provided by Brian Kerrigan’s band.
Brian Gavigan, owner of The Bird’s Nest, says he and his wife Nicola wanted a way to showcase all the country talent that’s out there.
“It’s the first time we’ve ever done this. We have so many people phoning us or leaving in cards. They’re all trying to get started and break into the country scene.
“We thought a talent contest like this would be an ideal way to show everyone just how great they are. We decided to run the competition on Tuesday nights, considering that most of the artists will be gigging at the weekends.”
There will be four heats in the Sounds Like Country 2013 competition. They will be on consecutive Tuesdays, starting on July 16 at 9.30pm.
Then there will be two semi-finals, on August 6and 13, and the Grand Final on August 20. A panel of local judges will rate the performances at the heats and semi-finals. The judging panel for the Grand Final is made up of some of the best names in the business - Eurovision winner Charlie McGettigan, Packie Keaney of Highland Radio and country singer Anthony McBrien who was a finalist in Glor Tír.
The closing date for entries is Friday, June 28. Entry forms are available at The Bird’s Nest, Main Street, Bundoran, from www.facebook.com/soundslikecountry or you can contact the pub on 071 984 2504 or email@example.com.
