Casablanca is an all time classic movie. And for the crowd of 160 people who went to the special screening of it last Friday night it certainly was a night to remember!
They were presented with a high quality copy of the original movie which was not re-mixed or digitally enhanced - the love story shone through.
Mark Doherty of Century Cinemas has been a long time supporter of Letterkenny Lions Club and yet again his team did a brilliant job of organising a great night’s entertainment. Mark commented: “It’s great to see so many people dressing up and coming out for a night out at the movies. Eamon Stevenson and I decided on Casablanca as it is known to everyone and a true classic.
“It is amazing how many people had never seen the movie before from beginning to end. We always get a buzz from the Lions Club and their guests and are happy to help them support worthy projects locally.”
The whole purpose of the Lions Club is to organise events that support and help local charities. And this is exactly what the Cinema night did. Each of the guests donated €20 for the night which included an ‘after party’ in the Radisson. More money was raised through a raffle with stand out prizes of a Family Portrait from Dermot Donohue and vouchers from local restaurants and shops.
“We are delighted to be able to donate the proceeds to St Bernadette’s School Bus Fund, says President of Letterkenny Lions Club, Meabh Conaghan. The event was really well supported by the community and local businesses and we are grateful to everyone for their continued support.”
Letterkenny Lions Club is already on to organising its next event in An Grianán Theatre on Wednesday, 30th April - a Motivational Talk with local hero Jason Black who climbed Evertest last year.
