The Earagail Arts Festival’s exciting programme is now available online and countywide and the popular event, now in its 24th year, has a wide array of entertainment on offer from 7 to 22 July 2012 all over County Donegal.
Every year the festival lays emphasis of engaging the wider community, young and old, in the arts with many exciting workshops available to participated.
The first ever Ceol na Coille Summer School of Irish Traditional Music will be held at Glenswilly National School from Monday, July 16 to Friday, July 20.
“I attended my first school at the age of 9 when I went to the first ever fiddle summer school in Glencolmcille and was taught by Dermot McLaughlin and Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh,” said the school’s founder Paul Harrigan who hopes to pass on his knowledge with other top class tutors teaching at the summer school.
The Greenroom venue at Voodoo Lounge in Letterkenny is quickly becoming a popular venue for live original music in the area and besides hosting a series of concerts during the festival, it will also host a workshops for ‘Selling and Marketing Music Online’.Mark Black, The Greenroom, said: “This will be a great chance for local artists to learn from a panel of music industry professionals who will pass on their expertise to help you promote your own music and get as much exposure as possible.”
The Regional Cultural Centre, Letterkenny, is celebrating its fifth anniversary during this year’s Earagail Arts Festival and marking the landmark with a series of events, exhibitions and also a workshop which should be of interest to children of all ages.
Whether you a 1 or 100 the Hands-On Art Room at the RCC will be a large scale room where visitors can make their own Donegal masterpieces, completely free of charge. The should definitely be a big hit with the whole family.
Another workshop event that will be of interest to the younger generations is the Make Your Own Festival Summer Camp (July 2 to 6) where children will make festival inspired creations to take home and also to decorate some of the festival venues.
