The two goals from Peter McGlynn and Ryan McCloskey came within minutes of each other midway through the second half and eventually decided the issue.

The home side were guilty of missing numerous chances up that point while Cappry always looked capable of striking on the counter attack.

The opening goal did arrive on 63 minutes. McGlynn cut inside from the left flank before unleashing a wonderful right footed striker beyond goalkeeper Eoin Gallen and into the top corner of the net.

Within two minutes, that advantage was doubled. On this occasion, McCloskey turned two defenders before slotting home from close range.

It appeared at that stage the floodgates would open but to Cappry’s credit they stayed in the match and indeed carved out a couple of late chances.

Rovers now advance to last eight meeting away to Rosses Academey next month.
