The hard work and dedication of teachers and pupils at a Glenties national school could put them in line for a major sporting award tomorrow.

Scoil Mhuire’s remarkable sporting year has been recognised by the powers to be in the Cumann na mBunscol.

They have been nominated for the GAA School of the Year at will attend a banquet in the Hogan Suite in Croke Park, Dublin this Friday, November 30.

The school have been extremely successful in all sports but this award is for their excellence in GAA games in 2012. The girls have had a clean sweep in winning indoor county and provincial titles in gaelic football. They won the Cumman na mBunscol outdoor title again and this is three times out of the last four years!

The boys were not to be out done and became the indoor county hurling champions.

This meant the school had both indoor county titles in the one year.

Let’s hope they bring the big one home from Croker to round off a fantastic year of sporting achievements.
