Donegal Town 1st team welcomed their Newry counterparts last Saturday in a crucial game with both teams lying next to each other in the league.

In near perfect weather Donegal was looking forward to the game with their exciting backline who delivered six tries on the day through Cannon, Mosby and McMurray with two tries apiece with J.Brogan and Mulhern also touching down.

Donegal controlled the game from start to finish with very strong forward play eventually resulting in uncontested scrums. This dominance continued in their lineouts and mauls, paving the way for the backs to take advantage of the space.

Halftime: Donegal Town RFC 30, Newry RFC 0

Cannon finished the day with an impressive tally of 29 points. Next weekend sees the team travel to Strabane who are one of the top teams in the league which will prove a tougher test.
