Errigal CC was well represented as the senior racing season got underway at the Hewitt and Gilpin Phoenix GP in Nuts Corner in Antrim on Sunday.

Roger McGlynn was first off for Errigal in the Masters event which was run over three laps of an eight mile circuit, finishing in the lead bunch Roger’s performance, in what was his first attempt at the event, was commendable.

Next off were Peter McBride, Mathew McKinley, Jordan McGinley and Danny Hunter in what turned out to be a very aggressive A3 Race held over five laps of the same circuit.

McBride rode a magnificent race and managed to get himself across the gap to a break which got away on the fourth lap, unfortunately he clipped a wheel on the lead out to the final sprint an lost out on what would have been his first senior win by a matter of inches.

McBride has worked very hard over the winter and this result confirms that all of that hard work is paying off with his fantastic early season form. Brian McBride represented Errigal in the A4 Race finishing well up the bunch at the finish, Brian was very aggressive throughout and attacked on a few occasions but just could not get the gap.

Errigal was well very supported at the event with a large number of club members going along to spectate in what turned out to be a great day of racing in Antrim.
