The ladies of Ballyshannon Rugby Club were celebrating late on Saturday night after returning home from Enniskillen with the spoils after defeating Cavan in the final.
Playing in difficult conditions under lights, the ‘Shannon girls made light of the conditions and although they were holding on a little at the end, they were always in front and the 13-10 winning margin was just about correct.
Tries from Siobhan Coughlan and a spectacular run from Maeve Liston in the second period were enough. But in the end the first score, a penalty by Danika Doherty that scraped the crossbar on the way over was the deciding factor as Cavan twice hit back in the second half with tries.
There was great rejoicing at the end with Alice Bowering’s dog joining in the celebrations when captain Michelle was making her victory speech.
