Nora Stapleton answers Ireland's call
Fahan native Nora Stapleton has been named in Ireland's 26-strong party for next month's Women's Rugby World Cup in England.
Stapleton, who plays on the wing for Old Belvedere and Leinster, is perhaps best known in the north-west as a Gaelic footballer with Donegal.
However, having opted to try her hand at rugby, she was capped for the first time in Ireland's 22-5 win over Italy in the RBS 6 Nations competition at Ashbourne RFC in February and followed that with her first international try against Scotland in Ireland's 15-3 victory a month afterwards.
In the World Cup, Ireland will open their campaign against England on Friday, August 20, before playing former winners and three-time finalists USA in their second game four days later. Ireland's final pool game against Kazakhstan takes place on Saturday, August 28.
All the pool games are set to be played in the Surrey Sports Camp which will serve as the Rugby World Cup village for all participating teams.
