St Eunan’s open All-County Football League Division One against Kilcar

Reigning All-County Football League Division One champions St Eunans will open their 2013 campaign with a home fixture against Kilcar on Good Friday, March 29.

The two sides met in the first round of the Raidio na Gaeltachta SFC last year and it eventually took a third game to separate the two thanks to a late Ross Wherity goal under lights in Convoy.

These fixtures were circulated to the clubs over the weekend by the CCC (Competition Control Committee).

The other games in the opening week in the division will see newly promoted Killybegs at home to Ardara, Naomh Conaill welcome Four Masters, while Gaoth Dobhair will play St Michaels at home in Magheragallon. Last year’s Division Two winners Malin are forced to wait to get their league campaign going as they sit out the first of their two bye weeks.

The next round of games takes place just two days later on Easter Sunday, March 31. Gaoth Dobhair and Naomh Conaill both play their second home game in as many days, facing St Eunan’s and Killybegs respectively. Kilcar will do battle with Four Masters in Towney while Malin get their 2013 league campaign underway with a home tie against Ardara. St Michael’s meanwhile have their first bye in round two. Each team has two ‘bye’ weeks during the year.

The provisional fixtures list also includes two ‘star’ weeks, meaning that no inter-county players are eligible to play for their respective clubs during these game weeks. The CCC have done their best to match the teams during these ‘star’ weeks, in accordance to absent count players.

Division One teams involved in Donegal Comortas Peil na Gaeltachta on May 5/6 will have to play outstanding games by the end of May and July 6/7 will be used for backlog games. If Donegal happen to reach the semi-final or final of the NFL Division One then those club league games will have to be made up.
