Banbridge Ladies 1st XI 3

Raphoe started well and were very dominant in the opening 10minutes. Raphoe midfielder and captain, Wendy Bustard received the ball and powered down the left side of the pitch, weaving in and out of the Banbridge defense, releasing the ball in the ‘D’, and after many attempts by the Raphoe attacker, Raphoe forward, Lyndsey Tinney finally connected with the ball to place in the back of the Banbridge goal.

Banbridge hit back to level but Raphoe continued to fight, with midfielder, Rachel Patterson managing to sprint up the right side of the pitch, knocking the ball into the attacking ‘D’ however unfortunately no Raphoe player was able to get on the end of the ball. Banbridge took their hit out and again knocked the ball up to their wings and again opened up the defense, and also defeating the Raphoe keeper to put the away team in front for the first time in the game..

Going into the second half, Raphoe Ladies were determined to have the score reflect the game and after another fantastic pass by midfielder, Sabrina Barnett, Raphoe attack found themselves in a position for scoring, as Wendy Bustard knocked the ball across the front of the goal to be slapped in by Lyndsey Tinney. With the score now 2-2, it was all to play for.

Banbridge went 3-2 up and after six penalty corners, Raphoe got the equaliser. Vicky Wray slapped the ball out to Wendy Bustard who took the ball into the ‘D’ and knocked it across the goal, where Rachel Patterson reverse hit the ball into the back of the Banbridge nets, taking the score to 3-3.

Banbridge Ladies were unable to break down the Raphoe defense, as the home dense continued to clear the ball away from danger easily.
