North West Zone underage boxing championships Four more titles for Donegal

Donegal boxers once again dominated the North West Zone underage boxing champion finals on Tuesday night in Letterkenny.

Four Donegal boxers were crowned North West champions and another three won their semi-final bouts to qualify for the finals.

The Donegal final winners on the night were Dungloe boxers Brian O’Donnell, Mark McCole and Jack Scally and Francis Mongan, Twin Towns.

Aaron Doherty, Letterkenny; Nathan Byrne, St. John Bosco and Terence Ward, Twin Towns, were the semi-final winners and booked their place in the finals which now forms part of the bill for Carrigart Boxing Club’s tournament in the Milford in on Friday night.

Tuesday night’s results were as follows:

Semi-finals:

Youth 1, 57 kilos: Aaron Doherty, Letterkenny ABC defeated Kelvin McShea, St. John Bosco (RSR3)

Youth 1, 63 kilos: Nathan Byrne, St. John Bosco (4) defeated (1) Martin Greene (Oak Leaf, Derry); Terence Ward, Twin Towns (4) defeated (1) Kalum McNeill, Errigal, Derry).

Finals:

Boy 4, 60 kilos: Brian O’Donnell, Dungloe (4) defeated (1) Patrick Doherty, St. Josephs, Derry.

Youth 1,60 kilos: Mark McCole, Dungloe defeated Declan Duffy (RSR1)

Youth 1, 75 kilos: Francis Mongan, Finn Valley (5) defeated (0) Joseph Kerlin, St. Canices

Youth 2, 63 kilos: Jack Scally, Dungloe (5)defeated (0) Aidan Gallagher, Finn Valley.
