No third time lucky for Cockhill

Cockhill Celtic’s appeal to the FAI over Fanad United fielding illegal players to win the Ulster Senior League has fallen on deaf ears - the third time the club has failed in their respective appeals.

Previous decisions of the Ulster Senior League and an Ulster FA, after appeals from the Inishowen side, have therefore been upheld. The FAI Appeals Committee met on Monday in Dublin to hear the appeal of Cockhill in relation to their appeal of the decision of the Ulster FA to uphold the USL Disciplinary Committee’s decision to confirm Fanad as League Champions for the 2011 season.

The three-man committee heard submissions from both clubs on the matter and having reviewed the available evidence, ruled that the Ulster FA were correct to uphold the decision that awarded Fanad United the league title. This decision may still be appealed to Arbitration by Cockhill.
