Murphy absent as Donegal draw with Roscommon

Donegal’s preparations for the Ulster Championship game with Derry are being finalised this week with the team on a training camp in Johnstown House, in Kildare.

On Tuesday night, on their way to camp, they took on Roscommon in a challenge game in Carrick-on-Shannon, which ended in a draw, Donegal 0-16, Roscommon 1-13.

What is worrying from a Donegal point of view is that Michael Murphy (pictured) did not play any part in Tuesday night’s game and must be considered a douby for the big game against Derry.

There was a return for Christy Toye while Ryan Bradley partnered Neil Gallagher at midfield. Another notable absentee was Paddy McGrath, but his omission may have been precautionary as he has had trouble with a quad injury in recent times.

The panel moved on to their training camp after the game and will return at the weekend.

The starting team on Tuesday night was: P Durcan; E McGee, N McGee, T McKinley; A Thompson, K Lacey, F McGlynn; N Gallagher, R Bradley; M McHugh, D Walsh, C Toye; D Molloy, C McFadden, M McElhinney.

There were numerous substitutions made at half-time with one notable player, Kevin Rafferty, returning to county action and scoring three points.

Patrick McBrearty was not present as he started his Leaving Cert yesterday (Wednesday) while Rory Kavanagh is still in rehab for his ankle injury.
