Raphoe’s Chloe Magee is the National Women’s Singles Badminton champion once again following her final triumph on Sunday afternoon over challenger Sinead Chambers.

In Sunday’s final in Baldoyle in Dublin, Chloe won the title for a sixth time with a comfortable victory over Chambers. She won the final in two straight sets, 21-14 and 21-16, having come through her quarter final meeting with Claire Flood with considerable ease and a two set victory.

She is also celebrating a mixed doubles success having teamed up with her brother Sam to retain the mixed double title for a fifth year in-a-row defeating their brother Daniel and his partner Claire Glennon 21-15 and 21-14 in the final.

And their was further joy for the Magee household when Sam Magee playing with Ballindrait man Ian Macbeth, won the men’s doubles national crown.

Meanwhile, in the U-15 National Championship also in Dublin at the weekend, Rachael Darargh, a niece of the Magees won singles and doubles titles at the championships.
