Dungloe Town, runners-up in Finn Harps Cup

The inaugural Finn Harps Cup was held over the weekend in Finn Park.

The competition was run with a view to giving young players experience of tournament football with three of the four teams competing in the tournament going on to the Foyle Cup next month.

The four teams competing were DSSW Finn Harps, Ballyraine/Kilmacrennan, Dungloe and Ballyjamesduff from Co.Cavan.

The tournament was a highly enjoyable occasion with some excellent football played over the two days. The winners were Ballyjamesduff who deservedly picked up the trophy having remained unbeaten through the entire tournament.

Dungloe achieved the same record but were pipped to the title on goal difference having drawn 2-2 with the eventual winners.

The home team DSSW Finn Harps which is made up of local players from the Donegal South West league performed well overall, the highlight of their tournament being an emphatic 6-1 victory over Ballyraine/Kilmacrennan on Saturday evening.
