Hutton accuses Brolly of showing lack of respect

Finn Harps player boss Peter Hutton has accused former player Marc Brolly of showing the club disrespect following his move to Derry City last week.

The Strabane man had been in talks with Harps but chose instead to join their North West neighbours.

Speaking after Saturday night’s win over Mervue United, Hutton confirmed that the club had been in talks with Brolly.

“Fair play to him, we wish him well,” Huton said. “But we were chatting to Marc and if anything it was disappointing that he never got back to us in any shape or form to say that he was signing with Derry which I thought lacked a bit of respect.”

Meanwhile the Harps manager also spoke of his frustration at not being able to include Mark Scoltock and Michael Funston in his squad at the weekend because their international clearance failed to come through on time. Another new signing, Cathal McDaid from Letterkenny, was also not registered in time to play.

“It’s frustrating to say the least. We’ve signed young Cathal McDaid as well and again, you wouldn’t have thought there would be any complications given that Cathal has been with us before,” he said.

“It’s just frustrating that the three of them didn’t get their registrations through on time. We can only hope that the work is done during the week and due process happens and they are all available for next weekend’s game.”

Harps travel to play Athlone Town this coming Friday night.
