FINN Harps will face a long trek for their opening game in the 2013 Airtricity League First Division campaign on Friday, March 8th.

Harps first home game the following week, on Friday 15 March, will be against Cobh Ramblers, who make a return to League of Ireland football after being awarded a licence.

The addition of Cobh brings the number of teams in the First Division up to eight, which will mean that Harps will have 28 league games, concluding on Saturday 12 October away to Salthill Devon.

That game against Cobh will be the start of a run which will see Finn Harps play five of their next seven league games at Finn Park.

All Harps’ home games this season will be played on a Friday evening, with kick-offs at 8.00pm. However, because of Ireland International games, the games against Longford Town (w/e 24th March) and Athlone Town (w/e 9th June) will move to either a Saturday or Sunday. Details of this will be announced in due course.

Finn Harps Manager, Peter Hutton, had requested that the club play their home fixtures on a Friday. Hutton said: “2013 is going to be an extremely important one for Finn Harps Football Club. The Chairman has already stated that he wishes to see the club challenging for promotion this season and this is also my aim. I feel that playing our home fixtures on a Friday night is ideal for myself and the players in preparation for games.”

The manager also urged the sporting public in the North-West to come out and support his team in the season ahead. “Obviously 2012 was a big year for sport in Donegal, so we are hoping that Finn Harps can continue that trend in 2013. I would appeal to all the sporting public to come out and support the club this year.”
