Donegal Town U-16s, gold medal winners in Basketball at the National Community Games finals.

While thousand of Donegal supporters made their way to Croke Park, a large contingent of Donegal competitors were heading to Athlone for this final week-end of the H.S.E National Community Games Finals. There were approximately sixty resident children and over seventy non-resident children taking part from all parts of Donegal. We had a very successful week-end coming home with 3 Gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze and 2 fourth place medals.

The three golds were won by the Under 16 girls from Donegal Town who were the talk of the camp with their easy and competent win also from Donegal Town the under 16 boys Basketball team and from Letterkenny West Noah Sanni who had a brilliant 100 metres win.

The Donegal Executive would like to thank Donegal’s Walking Olympian Brendan Boyce for being with the County over the week-end. Brendan competed at this level when he was younger and he was kept very busy with everyone looking for photographs with him. He said he had the best week-end in Community Games. We cannot forget Chloe Magee and Catriona Jennings who also took part in the games in their early years. A big thank you to Joesphine Mc Conigley and Kieran Murphy who were the County Managers and Christine Mc Gonigle tracksuit manager and to all mangers and anyone else who helped in any way in which was a very busy week-end.
