Former Glenfin lady footballer officiates at Dr McKenna Cup match
Maggie Farrelly
Former Glenfin player Maggie Farrelly wrote her name into Ulster GAA history on Sunday last when she ran the line in Tyrone v Derry Dr McKenna Cup game in Omagh.
The Cavan native and a member of the Laragh club played for Glenfin for a couple of seasons and was a member of the Glenfin championship winning team of 2011; a first for the Gaeltacht Lar club.
Farrelly has been refereeing club games in Cavan for a number of years, and also refereed in last season’s Ulster Club football league. Last weekend’s outing was the first time a female official acted in a senior inter-county game in Ulster. Tyrone defeated Derry 1-14 to 0-15.
