Fermanagh going to be tough - Donnelly

Donegal are chasing a third win on the trot in the Allianz National Hurling League Division 3A, when they face Fermanagh in Brewster Park on Saturday. (Throw in 2 pm).
They will also bid to hold on to the top position in the Division 3A league table and stay ahead of the chasing pack of Fingal and Louth, who they host in the last two games.
Ray Durack’s charges, who were involved in a battle for survival last year, have got this year’s campaign off to a flying start with wins over Monaghan (at home,= in the opening game) and away to Tyrone,on S unday last in Omagh.
“We did not play all that well against Tyrone. Paul Sheridan had a big game in the middle of the field and Lee Henderson was in good form up front but for the rest of us it was a real battling performance. All the hard training we have done since before Christmas really stood to us in the last 15 minutes when Tyrone threw the kitchen sink at us,” said Donegal defender, Jamsie Donnelly.
“But it was a good result to go to Omagh and come away with the win especially as there was a big crowd in for the second half for the football game and they got behind Tyrone.
“It was a good two points and really that is what it is all about at this time of the year and it does put us in a good position after two games. It is a big change from this time last year when we were fighting against relegation.”
Fermanagh go into the tie on the back of one win and one defeat and just like Donegal are showing decent early season form.
The Ernesiders won their opening game against Tyrone in impressive fashion and had four points to spare at the finish.
They were a little unlucky not to come away with a draw at least from their trip to Louth last weekend. It took a last gasp Shane Fennell pointed penalty to land the men from the Wee County a dramatic 0-13 to 0-12 win over the Erne men.
“Fermanagh are going really well and they will present us with a big challenge on Saturday. We will have to play very well and we’ll have our work cut out to get a win down in Brewster Park.
“We are expecting a really tough challenge and any talk of promotion or anything like that is far too premature. We face Fermanagh on Saturday and our total focus is on that game and nothing else.
“Training is going really well. We are in much better shape than we were this time last year. Everybody is putting in a big effort and confidence is high after the wins over Monaghan and Tyrone.”
After Saturday, Donegal have two more games, both at home, so the two points from their trip to Enniskillen would leave them in a great position in the table, as they entertain the big two of Fingal and Louth over the following two weekends.
