Donegal RFC U-15s
Randalstown made the long trip to the Holmes last Saturday morning. It was a beautiful bright and dry October morning perfect for rugby.
Luke Foy opened the scoring for the home side when he crashed over the line for a try after 9 minutes. Donegal were camped in the Randallstown half for the next 5 minutes when their winger Josh turned over the ball and ran the length of the field to score a try under the posts, which was duly converted by their out-half. Game on. Randallstown Centre Steven scored an opportunist try, which was an error at the Donegal scrum and was again converted by their out-half. Donegal came back with a try from Cormac Donnelly on 20 minutes. Randallstown winger Josh got in for another try, which was again converted. Donegal were now chasing the game and got a well-worked try from their Captain Jack Sweeney, which was converted by Conor Conneely. Half time score Donegal 17, Randalstown 21.
Donegal started the second half with a try from Mark Gillespie to put them one point ahead. Alex Boyd capitalised on a Randallstown error to score a try. The home side were now 6 points up and under severe pressure from Randallstown on the Donegal try line when Mark Gillespie turned over the ball and ran the length of the field to score a fine try which was converted by Conor Conneely. Final Score Donegal 34 points to Randallstown 21 points.
This was a good display from the home side that are playing in the Ulster Premier League this season. They narrowly lost their first game to City of Derry by two points and are looking forward to their upcoming games against Carrickfergus, Ballynahinch and Malone.
