Donegal open quest for three-in-a-row against Tyrone

DONEGAL will take on Tyrone in their opening fixture of next year’s Ulster championship.

The All-Ireland champions will have home advantage in the quarter-finals against the side managed by Mickey Harte. The winners of the tie will take on Derry or Down in the semi-finals.

Donegal have beaten Tyrone on their way to their successive Ulster championships. In 2011, late goals from Colm McFadden and Dermot Molloy sealed a 2-6 to 0-9 win in Clones and then in June at the same venue, Paul Durcan’s last ditch saved preserved a 0-12 to 0-10 advantage for the side managed by Jim McGuinness.

On the other side of the draw, Cavan take on Armagh in the preliminary round, with the winners taking on Fermanagh. The winners of Monaghan and Antrim are will also compete in the semi-finals.
