Bradford City's players celebrate Carl McHugh's third goal in their Capital One Cup semi-final first leg win over Aston Villa as a dejected Shay Given looks on

CARL MCHUGH’S Bradford City take a 3-1 advantage to Villa Park tomorrow night for the Capital One Cup semi-final second leg against Aston Villa.

The Lettermacaward native scored his side’s third goal past Lifford native Shay Given in the League Two side’s first leg victory against the Premier League strugglers a fortnight ago.

“There’s still a lot of work to do, ” McHugh said. “They’re still a top Premier League team and we have to go to their ground and it’s going to be a massive test. I think they will still be the favourites going into the second leg.”

Bradford’s fixture away to Port Vale in League Two on Saturday was postponed due to a frozen pitch at Vale Park while Villa squandered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns on Saturday.

Given was on the bench for that encounter as Brad Guzan kept goal but will be hopeful of keeping his place in the cup competitions, where he has played five times this season.

The 36-year-old has only ever played in one Wembley final, the 1998 FA Cup in which his Newcastle United side lost 2-0 against Arsenal. Elsewhere, Seamus Coleman from Killybegs is likely to feature for Everton against Southampton at St Mary’s in the Premier League tonight.
