Chloe Magee home tomorrow night
Donegal’s Olympic badminton player Chloe Magee, is due home in Raphoe,tomorrow night (Friday)for the first time since competing in the London Olympic.
Double Olympian Magee who comepted in the ladies singles at the London games, her second Olympics, is due to he arrive home between 7 and 8 pm where a welcome home reception has been arranged.
She will be first greeted at Raphoe Mart, before being paraded into the town, and to the Diamond, where she will be officially welcomed home.
Chloe who is the world number 44, played two matches at the London Games. In her first match she defeated Hadia Hosny, from Eypgt 2-0, before losing to world number 16, Pi Hongyan, from China, representing France.
Chloe returned to Dublin on Monday with the rest of Team Ireland, but remained on in the capital to take in yesterday’s official welcome home for Team Ireland at the Mansion House, in the capital.
Donegal to be without McLaughin sisters for Cork
Donegal will be without sharp shooting forward Geraldine McLaughlin and her sister Nicole for Saturday week’s All-Ireland championship quarter-final.
This arises after a request from the Donegal county board for a change of date was turned down by the national ladies GAA committee in Croke Park on Monday night.
Donegal had made the request because the McLaughlin girls’ sister Lorna is getting married on that day.
The game goes ahead on Saturday week as planned in Dr. Hyde Park, Roscommon, and forms part of a double bill with the meeting of Monaghan and Mayo. The Donegal game throws-in at 12.30 pm.
