Carrigart Boxing Club had a very successful big fight night tournament in the Milford Inn in Friday night.

A Carrigart selection took on a high quality Kildare selection with the Lillywhites winning the contest by seven bouts to three. Kildare’s Karl Kinga won the boxer of the night award following his toe to toe fight with Dungloe’s James Bonner.

The bill also included three finals of the North West Zone Underage Championship with Gerard Storey, St. Joseph’s, Derry; Terence Ward, Twin Towns, and Ciaran O’Connor, Carndonagh, all winning their respective bouts to advance to next weeekend’s Ulster finals.

The Ulster finals are on Saturday next at the Finn Valley Centre with weigh in from 10 am and the first fight timed for 12 noon.

The results from Friday night were as follows:

North West Zone final

Youth 1, 57 kilos: Gerard Storey, St. Josephs (3) defeated (2) Aaron Doherty, Letterkenny

Youth 1, 63 kilos: Terence Ward, Twin Towns (5) defeated (0) Nathan Byrne, St. John Bosco

Youth 2, 66 kilos: Ciaran O’Connor, Carndonagh (4) defeated (1) Owen Scally, Dungloe
