Back to the future for Garrett
Garrett Doherty
A Carndonagh man was out of luck in his bid to get his name into the Guinness Book of World Records on Sunday in Dublin but still broke an Irish record - at running backwards.
Thirty-four-year-old Garrett Doherty from Carndonagh broke the 10km backwards running record yesterday in the Dublin Port Tunnel, coming home in a time of 47mins 57sec, which is almost three minutes better than the previous record.
The feat won’t be officially recorded in the Guinness Book of Records as he didn’t meet all the strict criteria required. Doherty said: “We had to record the finish on video and my friend missed it.”
