300,000 euro boost for GAA Centre of Excellence

Donegal GAA is delighted with today’s announcement that the County Centre of Excellence/Training facility in Convoy is to receive €300,000 national lottery funding. This money will be used to erect a clubhouse containing dressing rooms, medical facilities, public toilets and meeting/dining area. The centre will be used by the County footballers (male and female), and County hurlers. It will also be used extensively as a training area for development squads in football, hurling and camogie. The facility will provide an ideal venue for under age blitzes and inter school/colleges games at County level and also at inter County level.

This major financial boost to the project should ensure that changing facilities will be available to players by the beginning of 2014 season.

Future developments will be undertaken, such as more pitches, when funding becomes available.

Donegal GAA will immediately be appointing Architects to oversee the project and the building process will give employment to a number of people in the construction sector.

All Donegal GAA followers are extremely grateful to everyone who promoted our cause and especially to Minister Dinny Mc Ginley TD, Joe Mc Hugh TD and Senator Jimmy Harte who we are aware made a huge effort to secure this very welcome funding.
