Donegal Sports Star Awards nominations announced

The Donegal Sports Star committee has announced the full list of nominations for their 33rd awards ceremony which takes place on Friday, January 30th in the Mount Errigal Hotel, Letterkenny.

Once again the local sporting community has shown a great interest in the annual event with some intense competition for the honours in 24 senior categories which includes the 'Appreciation and 'Hall of Fame' awards.

Equally there have been some fine achievements at schools level in 2008 and that is reflected in the nominations for the eight categories.

The final duty on the night for the special guest, former Republic of Ireland soccer star, Packie Bonner will be to present the overall Sports Star winner with an award to recognise outstanding success last year. The current holder of that prestigious honour is rally driver Shaun Gallagher.

Tickets priced at €35 for adults (€25 for children) for the gala night can be ordered by contacting 0864059670 or 0879153125. All tickets must be paid for and collected by Friday, January 23rd.
