Donegal hosts International Youth Cycling Tour

Donegal was the centre of attraction for the top young cyclists from Ireland, the U.K and the Isle of Man at the weekend.

This was with the staging of the Errigal International Youth Tour, the first time the International Youth Tour was staged in Donegal. The event was run over the three days of the Bank Holiday weekend Saturday, Sunday and yesterday Monday.

The event was hosted by the Errigal Cycling Club and the Gartan Outdoor Pursuit Centre in Churchill was the base for the three days. The event was run in conjunction with Cycling Ireland and Cycling Ulster.

Among the participants was a large home field and a strong representation of riders from Great Britian.

World cycling champion and 2012 Tour de France winner Mark Cavendish is a previous competitor in the tour.

The tour started on Saturday morning in Gartan and had it final stage yesterday afternoon around Letterkenny.
