Bronze for Gallagher in Bulgaria

Finn Valley Boxing Club's Michael Gallagher was on the podium at the eighth European Schoolboy Championships in Yambol, Bulgaria, last week

Gallagher picked up third place in the 72kg after he went down to Blagov Naydenov from Bulgaria 6-2 on Friday. Another Donegal man who did well for himself in the championship was Mark McElhinney for Convoy ABC in the 65kg, who was knocked out in the quarter-finals when he lost 8-1 against Resul Kucuk from Turkey. Gallagher, along with John Joyce in the 41.5kg and 50kg entrant Wayne Kelly were the only three Irish boxers to return with a medal.
