Three friends have been on an intensive training schedule enduring the worst of the winter storms in preparation for the ultimate cycle.
Many would regard a 650k trip from Malin to Mizen as a challenging drive in a car but this trio are about to set off on their bikes and complete the mammoth journey in 24 hours.
Tony Cummins, Gerry Cleary and Aidan Ferguson are taking on this marathon challenge of cyling the route non stop on June 20/21 in aid of M.S.
Eleanor Rooney who is PR for the event said, “This is really one very stiff challenge and to be fair to the lads they have really put everything into it. They have been out there in the most atrocious conditions putting in distances of 160k on occasions.
We are fundraising at present to make this courageous challenge possible and we will be hosting a few events to raise those few Euro. On Saturday next we will host the “Lap of the Lake” a cycle around Lough Melvin starting in Garrison at 11.00am. This will be a fun cycle for all the family and the general public. We really would like to see as many people join us for a morning in the great outdoors.”
